Back in mid-March, the Victory Athletics crew traveled west for a hands-free batting cage and wall pad installation at the private residence of a MLB player. This cage, much like every project our team tackles, was unique–specifically in that it was designed for professional usage. With more rigorous and intense utilization, we recommend upgrading the gauge of netting from the standard #36 to #60, or (as employed in this case) even #96. However, since #96 gauge netting is thicker, it is also heavier. This leads to a winch (the system that powers the raising and lowering of the cage) upgrade needed to handle the extra load, which–in addition to faster and smoother operation–is why we went with a high-speed winch for this customer. When installing the system, however, we quickly realized it would be a tight fit within the facility, as measurements sent to our team were slightly inaccurate. Nevertheless, the Victory crew managed to deliver with on-site fabrication. By reducing the length of the bottom shelf (which is needed on both ends of a hands-free system to catch the netting as cage raises and lowers), the system was able to work without coming into contact with obstacles. When this was accomplished, the team added the detailing to the cage–including a dark green batter’s eye on one end of the cage to increase visibility and tracking of baseballs. Lastly, the crew installed five black wall pads under a basketball backstop, and assembled an L-Screen to be used within their cage. You can also check out this webpage to avail basketball hoops. Once finalized, the crew left satisfied that the customer now had a facility suited to their elite needs.Â
